MELT DIVERTER VALVE (START-UP VALVE) |
 |
Melt Diverter Valves,
or Start-Up Valves, are normally fitted to medium and large polymer
production lines, to allow polymer to be dumped (or diverted) when
starting a line again after a shut-down, thus avoiding degraded or
off-spec polymer to pass through the die. These compact-design, space
saving valves are normally fitted upstream of a Screen Changer and
pelletizing die and are hydraulically operated to allow fast movement
for dumping or moving to in-line production. They can be operated by
the same hydraulic unit which operates the Screen Changer (if
available).
For new or existing
lines, IPL can design and manufacture adaptors, which may be required to
connect the Melt Divert Valve to the rest of the line. |
|
Custom-built melt diverter valve,
suitable for connecting to an extruder, melt pump and screen changer.
Designed to divert polymer prior to start-up of a line, or ready to
discharge polymer automatically in the event of a die blockage. |
|
With the sliding
piston in the ‘down’ position, the polymer passes through the valve.
Within approximately 1 second, the sliding piston can move ‘up’, at full extrusion
output, and discharge polymer to the floor, or into a container. Can be
electrically, steam or oil heated. The DV is fitted with adjustable
metal seals.
